Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to services and products provided by the Alliance of Beauty Practitioners (ABP), part of Fourteen-A Ltd, Registered Charity No. 1147552. They apply to accreditation services, accreditation renewals, training resources, downloadable course materials and other services provided by ABP.

By applying for accreditation, renewing accreditation, purchasing products or using ABP services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Accreditation

ABP accreditation is awarded following a review of the information and documentation submitted by the applicant. Accreditation confirms that, at the time of approval, the training provider and/or course met the standards and requirements applied by ABP.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information supplied to ABP is accurate, complete and kept up to date.

ABP may request further information, documents or amendments before accreditation is approved. Accreditation may be refused, suspended, withdrawn or allowed to expire where ABP requirements are not met or where information provided is found to be inaccurate or misleading.

Annual renewal

ABP accreditation is normally subject to annual renewal unless a different accreditation status has been expressly granted.

Accredited providers are responsible for renewing their accreditation before the stated expiry date and for confirming that their business details, tutors, courses, insurance and other relevant information remain current.

Renewal is not automatic. ABP may request updated information or supporting documents before confirming renewal.

If accreditation is not renewed by the expiry date, the provider’s accreditation status may be shown as expired and the provider may be removed from, or marked accordingly on, the ABP public register.

Accreditation Fees and Payments 

Accreditation and renewal fees are payable at the rates shown by ABP at the time of application or renewal.

Payment of a fee does not in itself guarantee that accreditation will be awarded or renewed. Accreditation remains subject to ABP's review and approval requirements.

Where an application requires additional information or amendments, the applicant will be given an opportunity to provide these before a final decision is made.

Fees and payment arrangements for accreditation services may be changed from time to time. Any applicable fee will be made clear before payment is requested.

Course Shop and Digital Products 

ABP may offer downloadable course materials, teaching resources and other digital products for purchase through its Course Shop.

Unless otherwise stated, purchased course materials are supplied for use by the purchasing academy or training provider. Materials may be edited, adapted and branded for use within that academy’s own training provision.

Purchasing ABP course materials does not transfer copyright or ownership of the original material to the purchaser. Files must not be resold, shared, distributed, sublicensed or supplied to other training providers or third parties without prior written permission from ABP.

Purchasers are responsible for reviewing and adapting materials where necessary to ensure that they remain appropriate for their learners, delivery methods, insurance requirements and any applicable professional or regulatory requirements.

Digital Downloads and Refunds 

Digital products are normally supplied electronically and may be available for immediate download after purchase.

Because digital content can be accessed and downloaded immediately, refunds will not normally be available once the download has been supplied or accessed, except where required by law.

If a digital product is faulty, corrupted, materially different from its description or cannot be accessed, please contact ABP so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, provide a replacement, correction or refund.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights.

Intellectual Property and Use of Materials 

ABP course materials, training resources, written content, presentations, graphics and other original materials remain the intellectual property of ABP or, where applicable, the individual author or copyright owner.

Purchase of a digital product grants the purchaser a licence to use, edit and brand the materials for their own academy or training provision, subject to any specific licence terms supplied with the product.

Purchasers may provide the finished materials to their own learners as part of the courses they deliver. They may not sell, share or distribute the editable source files to other academies, trainers or third parties, or offer the materials themselves for resale.

ABP branding, logos and accreditation marks may only be used in accordance with ABP's accreditation and branding requirements.

Accuracy and Updates to Course Materials 

ABP takes reasonable care to ensure that course materials and training resources are accurate and appropriate at the time they are produced or updated.

Beauty industry practices, legislation, professional guidance, product information and insurance requirements may change over time. Purchasers and training providers are responsible for ensuring that the materials they use remain appropriate and current for the courses they deliver.

ABP may update or revise its course materials from time to time but does not guarantee that purchasers of an earlier version will automatically receive future revisions unless this is specifically included with the product purchased.

Third-Party Course Materials 

Where ABP offers course materials or training resources created by an independent author or educator, the intellectual property in those materials remains with the original copyright owner unless otherwise stated.

ABP may be authorised to market, sell and distribute those materials under an agreement with the author or copyright owner.

Purchasers receive the same rights to use and adapt those materials as specified in the product description or accompanying licence. Purchase does not transfer copyright ownership and does not permit the original or edited materials to be resold or distributed to other training providers.

Any third-party course materials offered through ABP will be clearly identified where appropriate.

Limitation of Liability 

ABP provides accreditation services, course materials and educational resources with reasonable care and skill. However, accreditation does not constitute a guarantee of the commercial success, quality of teaching or conduct of an accredited provider.

Training providers remain responsible for the safe and appropriate delivery of their own courses, the competence and suitability of their tutors, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining appropriate insurance.

To the extent permitted by law, ABP will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of its services or training materials.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

Changes to these Terms 

ABP may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to its services, policies, legal requirements or working practices.

The version published on the ABP website will be the current version. Any significant changes affecting existing accredited providers or services already purchased will be communicated where appropriate.

Governing law

These Terms & Conditions and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction in relation to any dispute arising from or connected with these Terms & Conditions, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.
